Both Logan Paul and KSI rose to prominence on YouTube. Paul had a rapidly expanding vlog channel. Meanwhile, KSI amassed a fan base through his participation in FIFA. The two would get into a battle involving diss tracks aimed at each other. The diss tracks were released in the run-up to Logan Paul's first fight with KSI. The fight took place in Manchester, England, and it was a huge success. Paul had never fought before, but KSI had fought another YouTuber, Joe Weller.
Both fighters made their professional debuts in the second fight. KSI-Paul II headlined an event put on by Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn at the Staples Center. On the undercard were WBO Super Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders and WBC Lightweight Champion Devin Haney. The main event resulted in a split decision in favour of KSI. Paul defeated KSI in the fourth round, but he was docked two points for hitting him on the way down.
